The Cambria Reset
My tips & recommendations for a stay in this soul-resetting, heart-feeding, wildly inspiring spot.
If you’re feeling out of sorts, seek some inspiration, want go on a parent/child adventure, or need to relax solo and relearn the art of being present, go to Cambria
My first solo visit to Cambria became the tail-end of a rather stressful time. Post-Covid, exhausted, and feeling weary from the state of the world, it was time for a refresh. When I chose this spot, I had no idea it would initiate the wrapping up of that phase; I only knew I desperately needed a solo getaway to give my head and heart a respite. To say I got what I needed would be unfair to the magic this special place sprinkled all over my life. It re-energized me and gave me the fuel and inspiration to wake up my slumbering badassery and get back on track. *Refresh granted*.
Next visit, I brought my son because I wanted him to be touched by Cambria’s fresh air and magic. Adventuring, laughing, imagining, cliff-jumping, rock-climbing, stone-skipping, wave-watching, wandering, relaxing, and most importantly, bonding. It remains one of our favorite adventures together. ABSOLUTE JOY for both of us.
Whether solo or with a kiddo, your screens won’t be needed here.
Cambria is essentially divided into two parts: the town and the ocean-front strip where you’ll find a majority of the hotels. They are lined up, one after the other, along Moonstone Beach Rd, the only thing separating them from the boardwalk and bluffs leading down to the ocean. My first thought upon arrival was that it was too cluttered, but it only took an hour or two before they faded into the background as I began to understand the place.
Cambria is less about what’s behind you and more about right where you are and which direction you are facing.
It is a perfect metaphor for life, actually, which is why this place is so special.
