My father has lived in Mallorca on and off for more years than I can count so I’ve had good reason to visit many times, over many years. I love the island and all it offers. I particularly love that, in the course of one day, you can explore the city, visit the countryside, and maybe even find a little cove to dip into with no other visitors in sight. It has a little of everything, making it an excellent place for a vacay.
While it’s a big island and there is still much I am eager to explore, I’ve gotten a pretty good handle on it and am often asked for my recommendations. As such, I’ve kept a running list to share when those requests came in, and have moved it over here instead. This list is more personal than it is professional, and I update it with each visit.
If you’re headed to Mallorca, here’s my outside-insider’s guide to the magical island. Happy travels!
Fun fact: you will see it referred to as both Mallorca and Majorca. Two spellings, one island!
PALMA:
- Walk all around the Palma Cathedral also called Le Seu. Day and night, it’s beautiful so go twice! Referred to as the Cathedral of Light, if you visit in the morning, the sunlight streams through the 61 (!) stained glass windows and it’s pretty special.
- Stroll the Passeig del Born - lots of shopping (both designer and local brands) and cafes. Very pretty walk at night when the cathedral is lit and street lights are on.
