I’ve committed to one month of wearing only what is in my closet, paying particular focus to those items I rarely wear, yet still allow to take up space. A closet inventory, of sorts. No shopping, no borrowing, no trading, no sourcing, no dopamine hits, no thrill of the find.
It’s equal parts frustrating and satisfying.
Two weeks in, and I’ve learned quite a lot, not only about myself but about the structure of one’s wardrobe. Turns out, there is more of a need for strategy than there is for whimsy, although whimsy is what makes a wardrobe unique. I’ve decided that striking that balance is the sweet spot where true style lives.
Isn’t it amazing how so many life lessons grab us by the sleeve, and steer us back toward balance? I love it and hate it. And there it is again…
Anyway, I may not be able to press “place your order” or “buy now” this month, but I didn’t commit to not looking.
Were I to be considering any purchases this month, these would make the list. (I am not an affiliate of these brands. This is just for the love of it, Baby.)
Somebody go get these items below, and please loan them to me when my month is up.

THIS CLUTCH. Color of the season, and an excellent affordable alternative to the Bottega Veneta Pouch Clutch. It’s perfect.

Some version of this toggle jacket has been on the market for a few seasons now. Understandable, considering that it’s great for every day wear, and has that easy ‘put-together’ look. The jacket, jeans, and a loafer and you’re done. Can’t beat the price either.

I LOVE a statement piece, and I would always prefer to be overdressed than underdressed. This coat certainly fits the bill. I’d wear it everywhere with everything. The color is divine. Wear it with black, brown, burgundy, cream, denim, green. You cannot go wrong. Someone who lives near me get it, please. (PS: it is my firm position that The Frankie Shop is absolutely dominating the jacket game of late.)

While you’re on that site, these trousers are dreamy. Whether with flats, trainers, or a sky high pointy toe, the drape is calling my name. Love, love, love.

From classic black to this. Balance, Baby. I LOVE this set, and would happily split it up to wear them separately as well. I’d wear the pants with a cream cashmere turtleneck & statement earrings and the jacket with high-waisted structured denim pants or black midi-skirt with boots. Done.

I’m happy that the straight leg cut is making its comeback. I am a baggy jean devotee, without a doubt, and/but I’m working on — say it with me now — yep, balance. So, here we are.

The sweetheart neckline takes me way back, as does the drop waist. I remain skeptical of the sweetheart, but I am deeply thankful for the resurgence of the drop waist because it works for people like me whose waist forgot to make an appearance. This line is for us. I’d probably wear it layered with a bomber jacket (or the toggle jacket above!) and with chunky, flat boots.

Caveat: it’s highly unlikely that I would spend this amount on a seasonal piece in a non-classic pattern, but I do love this jacket. A modern spin on an old school flight jacket. I don’t like it paired with the skirt as they show it, but I would LOVE it either with a great pair of baggy charcoal grey jeans and a pointy toe boot, a pair of tailored black slacks and a loafer, OR with a pleated black midi skirt and knee high boots. I like that you can dress this up or down, and that it looks so darn cozy. It’s one of the zanier pieces from one of my latest brand obsessions out of Copenhagen. I swear, that place is a design win, top to bottom. This particular designer kills the modern-spin-on-a-classic game and the founder’s instagram account is top notch.

This style of skirt is a no-brainer. It’s been around for quite a while, and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, anytime soon. Love this color and would style it with the Cos clutch above, knee-high boots, and maybe even the faux fur for a little tone-on-tone dreaminess. It comes in a multitude of colors, it’s a great price, and if it came with her stomach, I’d pay at least 5x that.

Since we are officially entering holiday season, we need a little more pizazz. A sparkle and denim?! A sparkle and a baggy cut denim? Is this balance in full effect? I say yes. Dress ‘em up, dress ‘em down. Either way, you’re the celebration.
Lastly, I have these, I love them, and I wear them all the time. (fyi, these are in my Amazon storefront)
Thank you for helping me satisfy the itch for the scroll, the hunt, the search, and the find. I feel semi-satiated, and inspired to run back to my closet to see what I can find for the next few weeks of my personal challenge.
Lastly, if you buy any of the above, please, please let me know, so I can feel a sense of shopper’s satisfaction. And, of course, so I know who to call when I’m in need of a closet loan.
Love this!!!
