If you’re new here, Hi Friends! I’m Cyia, mother, teacher of mindset & meditation, interior stylist, former actor & dancer, curiosity chaser, and resource queen. I started LIFESTYLER as a gathering spot for all the topics that lend themselves to a life lived whole. No gatekeeping here; ask me anything.

My book stack is constantly on rotation and always a mix of genres. I tend to lean toward non-fiction more than fiction, but I love them all. New mini-getaway dream thanks to my girl, Sherry: a few days away, somewhere cozy, to read in the company of friends. Can you even imagine? Heaven!
Here’s what I’m dipping into right now:
As the parent of a teen myself, I’m hoping to learn tips that help lighten the pressure on him and realign our priorities. Any perspective that leans toward the whole human rather than weighing too heavily on performative living is a win in my book. Order here.
This is the second time I’ve included this beaut in a post, and it’s certainly deserving of it. Don’t read it without a highlighter nearby; it’s one of those books filled with one-liners that take your breath away or give you that “Aha!” moment we all love. Author Rick Rubin is as creative a vessel as they come, so he’s certainly a voice worth listening to. I love how effortlessly he weaves in a dash of spirituality here and a dose of energy talk there. Does he know me, or does he know me? My fave.
Bonus: the book is very pretty and looks stellar in your stack.
Stylist’s Tip: It’s a smaller book, so while it would be aesthetically pleasing on a coffee or side table (love its graphics!), make sure it works with the scale of your stack. Order here
Is it ADD or hormones? Frankly, it's a toss-up. I'm hoping this is going to help me figure that out. Truth be told, while my hormones have been a shit show this year, I've always been somewhat ADD, and I wish I'd tackled it ages ago. It wasn't as common a conversation back then as it is now. Thus far, I’ve learned by trial and (lots of) error how to conquer my ADD challenges, and man, do I wish I'd had books like this to turn to for survival tips. Order here.
Now about those pesky hormones…
If you are experiencing any hormonal shifts due to peri- or menopause, you need this book. Not enough people are talking about how challenging this phase can be and about how many different ways it can present. It blows my foggy-mind. This book breaks it down. Bonus: it’s written by a woman, for women. Read it if you’re over 40 and have ever asked yourself what was wrong with you. 1) you are not alone and 2) you are likely to find your answers inside its pages. 3) nothing is wrong with you; you’re just human. You know you’re late to the game when the TV show has already come out, but I am still determined to read it before I see it. Order here
I love, love this title.
I first read this book when it came out 30 years ago, and I loved it. So much so, that, whenever asked, it was included in my favorite books list for many, many years. To this day, it comes to mind when the topic of favorites comes up. I remember loving that it was genderless; you never knew whether you were reading a hetero- or lesbian love story. I just marveled at the literary feat.
I remember the book was fluid, beautiful, and moving, but truth be told, I can’t remember the story. So, I will be rereading this one, and I can’t wait to see if it resonates as deeply with my 52 year old self as it did with my more idealistic 22 year old self. I shall report back. Order here
If you know me, you know that, among my other pursuits and careers, one of my constants has been teaching Mindset & Meditation for about 15 years. It compliments every single aspect of life. I love spirituality, energy, personal transformation, and anything else that fits the mindset, wellness & inner peace bill.
I can’t say that I was expecting to be so deeply, remarkably, nor irrefutably moved by a book written in the early part of the 20th century that breaks down aspects of the Bible, but here I am announcing this as one of my all-time favorite books.
I will say that it’s probably not for everyone, and there’s a whole section on the Constitution that I’ll admit I skipped over, but as far as the rest of the book is concerned, it affirmed a lot of my beliefs, shifted some inaccurate, long-held perspectives, and honestly, changed my life. It’s wildly empowering and not at all religious. I often turn to it to read a chapter or two so it’s one that makes a regular appearance on the stack. Order here
Et, voilá! There’s my stack of the moment. Dip in with me? And I’d love to know what’s in your stack right now. Let me know in the comments.
